1. What’s your handle? What name do you use on the high score screen?
AJmix. AJMX or AJMIX.

18 years old. At least nine thousand.
3. When did you fill out these questions?
October 2007.
4. Where do you usually play? Is it usually crowded?
The closest arcade near me with IIDX is SVGL, which is an hour away. I hope the hopefully soon US arcade release would change that, but no. I usually just play at home. Is SVGL crowded? Mostly around the GFDM machine from my experience.
5. What date did you start playing IIDX?
December 2003.
6. Your current level is …
7th Dan.
7. Are you an arcade player or a CS player?
CS Player.
8. Do you play single play? Double play? Do you play primarily one-handed?
Since my table only holds one controller, I primarily play Single Play. Though I have played Doubles a couple of times at the arcade. Mostly on beatmania I. Yeah, fun.
As for the third question, no.
9. What’s more important to you? Clearing hard songs or getting high EX score?
Passing, though eventually I try to get high scores on the easier songs.
10. What made you start playing IIDX?
I was a big DDR fan at the time, and wanted to try new games in the rhythm game genre. I eventually heard about BM98, a beatmania I simulator. When I eventually heard about IIDX, I was thinking about playing it for a while until I managed to do so.
11. What’s your favorite IIDX style? What’s your favorite song from each style (the “song of the style”)?

7th - A
8th - Rainbow Flyer
RED - Scorpion Fire (LOL PLOT TWIST)

DistorteD - Nageki No Ki
12. Who’s your favorite artist?
Mr.T. (Note: I would probably say L.E.D. now)
13. What’s your favorite genre?
Disco House and VGM. (Note: I only said Disco House because that Love Together song from Parappa The Otherwise Mediocre Anime was so catchy. I like Goa better than either nowadays.)
14. What are your favorite three songs (in order)?
1. One More Lovely
2. Rage Against Usual
3. A
15. Do you have any songs you don’t like playing but like the music for?

I’ve used it a couple times, can’t pass Luv To Me (Ucchie’s Mix) either way.
17. What high speed level do you play at?
Around HS1.5. Unless it’s Ganymede, then HS5.
18. Ever died an instant death cause a fast song came on in a ranking course while you were on HS3?

Yeah.
25. Do you like random, scattered patterns?
No.
26. Do you like drumrolls?
As long as they’re not jackhammers.
27. Do you accidentally choose the wrong song by turning the turntable too far, or not far enough, at the song select screen?
Not really.
28. Do you mean to play BATTLE mode with two people, but sometimes forget to turn it on before entering the game?
Not really.
29. Have you ever meant to play a song Another but selected Light? Have you ever done the opposite?
Both.
30. Have you ever meant to pick Easy but picked Hard?
No.
31. To get better, you need to try your best.
And practice.
32. To get better, you need time.
Can’t exactly start beatmania and pass V Another in one day.
33. To get better, you need money.
Well, you need to buy the game in order to get any skill at it, so true.
34. Do you usually play normal 7/14KEYS or EXPERT mode?
7Keys.
35. What’s the song you usually play most? What expert course?
I like playing a variety of music, though I feel like I play 321 Stars too much on DD.

I do not play double, but it seems like it is balanced out.
41. Are there any songs you think have a wrong star rating?
TRANOID Another (looks like a hard 10) and Gooble 14Key (the hardest 5 ever made) is probably the best example of these, but I can not think of one.
42. What song (like 5.1.1.) do you think is insanely different between its normal and another versions?
Outer Limits in DD. I still can not hear the original song in “Outer Limits Alternative.”

Closest would be any fail at 78%.

I have two, but they’re both Pop’n ones my dad bought from AI.
50. Do you want skill points, like in GF/DM?

I chomp my teeth to the music, sometimes.
53. How many people does it take around a cabinet before you start forming a line?
One.
54. Do you have a “theme song”?
What, like when some wrestleman goes into the ring, and they play some heavy metal song? Man, I do not take IIDX that seriously.
55. What’s your grade on Gambol?
It’s been a long time since I played it.
56. Have you ever failed because you thought a song was over before it was?
I remember the total opposite: getting the groove radar from 78% to 80% due to the final scratch in Step Into The New World.
57. Any songs you wish Konami would bring back?
m-flo. Seriously.
58. The just great window from 10th on is smaller, isn’t it?
Never played it.
59. How much will you spend on a game in a day?
I think I spent $10 once (1 dollar per play).
60. How much have you spent on IIDX so far?

61. Have you ever shouted at someone browsing the gallery or scores on an arcade machine in a game center?
Nope. Never saw it happen.
62. Do you ever adopt weird posture sitting at an arcade machine? (Like crossing your legs, or hunching over the buttons … )

Yes, but I prefer left.
67. Do you use your little finger?
I call it “Pinky scratching.”
68. What style do you think Konami will release IIDX through?
I don’t think it’s going to die out soon, unless Konami makes a beatmania IV.

1. moon_child [A]
2. A[A]
3. Colors[A]
70. What do you think the ratio of boy IIDX players to girl IIDX players is?
10 to 1. I know some female IIDX players, though.
71. When did you have the impression of having improved the most?
Passing murmur twins 7Key.

Probably if I get a B when my high score was a AA.

OFF.
75. Do you ever feel crowded when you’re playing with someone else?

Not even on a GFDM machine, never mind DDR Club Mix.
77. How do you pronounce “IIDX”?
Two De Ex. (Note: I meant “Dee”.)
78. Do you have an ASC?
A Pop’n one, but it is one of those crappy, overpriced Konami ones.
79. Do you buy soundtracks?
Yes. Currently have 8th Style, 10th Style, Happy Sky, and beatmania 6th Mix.
80. What’s your secret to getting good at IIDX?
IIDX is one of those games that are really unforgiving, and you may get frustrated at it. But try and try again until you can beat the song. Congratulations, you now have a simulation of a hobby that is slightly less expensive than the real thing. (Note: I am probably the worst used car salesman ever.)
81. Have you ever played a song so much it ended up in the ranking courses?
Not really.
82. Do you find yourself playing the silver and bronze courses more than the platinum and gold?
I don’t play those courses that much, really.

Not really.
85. Have you gotten someone hooked, or did someone else get YOU hooked?
Not really.

I think every gamer has a story about that, and I’m no exception.
87. Does passing a song only once count, or do you have to be able to pass it consistently?
If you can pass it consistently, you can show it off.
88. Long live the anmitsu technique!
Note: anmitsu is a technique to cope with lots of keypresses very close to each other. For example, if you have to press 1, then 2, then 3, soon after each other, you instead press 1+2+3 at the same time. This gets you goods instead of greats, but continues your combo.
Good for you. I don’t use it!
89. Do you have a mentor?
Does Ver2 count?
90. Do you have any rivals?
Not any I meet weekly.
91. Do you go to try a new release the day it comes out?
I tend to wait unless it’s really good.

The music.
96. What makes you happiest about having played IIDX?
The music.
97. Are there any questions you didn’t understand? Which ones?
The mus…er, the theme song question.
98. What is your current, most immediate “goal” with regards to IIDX?
Three words: pass an eleven! (Note: Fascination MAXX Hyper, bitches!)
99. What is your most far-off goal with regards to IIDX?
FC Through The Fire And Flames…
…when it gets on IIDX, that is. See, far off. (Note: Nowadays I’d say “Play Daft Punk on a non-simulator IIDX”.)
100. You made it through! Good work. Please feel free to say a few words.
I like turtles. (Note: Nowadays I’d probably say “Just say no to Rock Revolution.”)
